I know that blowing the seeds off of dandelions is supposed to be really terrible for the lawn. Â I know that it makes more and more of the weeds pop up out of the grass, ruining the neat profile of the yard.
But when it’s a mild spring evening and your boys are holding dandelion stalks in their grubby fists and the delicate fuzzy seeds are beautifully backlit by the low sun, and your three-year-old holds a stalk an inch from your mouth and says, “Now you try,” you don’t care about anything else besides taking a deep breath and letting it go.
I’ll gladly trade a perfect lawn for a perfect moment.
