L-O-V-E, Love

Yesterday evening I was at Peet’s, sipping a Jasmine Lime and doing a little bit of research for my next article.  Reading The Catechism of the Catholic Church may sound like a pretty dreary way to spend the evening, but I have to tell you, I read something jaw-droppingly beautiful on the last page of the Prologue.  The section is titled “Above All-Charity.”  It contains a quote from the Roman Catechism:

The whole concern of doctrine and its teaching must be directed to the love that never ends.  Whether something is proposed for belief, for hope or for action, the love of our Lord must always be made accessible, so that anyone can see that all the works of perfect Christian virtue spring from love and have no other objective than to arrive at love.

That kind of takes my breath away, you know?

If only I could always live up to that.
