Two days into the Thanksgiving vacation, there have been lots of little moments to remember. Â There was the fun of seeing my boys play with their cousins, whom they never get to see often enough. Â There was the great visit with my sister, which happens far less often than I’d like. Â There was the family dinner at my aunt’s house, where we all gathered around the table that once belonged to my grandparents. Â There was a bike ride along the bay with my boys this morning, and the cozy experience of making gingersnaps with my eager five-year-old helper.
And if I had to pick a soundtrack for all of these simple moments, I can’t think of a better one than this beautiful section of Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring. Â It always makes me think of home, and family, and the little graces of every day.
What are the simple gifts that you’ve received this Thanksgiving?
