There’s an old Persian proverb that I’ve always loved: “If you have two loaves of bread, sell one, and buy a hyacinth to feed your soul.”
Two bunches of daffodils work, too.
It’s okay that the weather outside is cold and wet and gray. On my table, the sun is shining.

That saying is new to me, but the sentiment is not. I have so often found some extra money to buy flowers, even when it seemed a frivolity. The daffodils are glorious!
I hear you, Fran … at times I feel a mite guilty spending money on flowers, but it is always worth it for the joy they bring. They really do elevate my mood.
Of course, the BEST mood-lifter is when Scott buys them for me.
